You shouldn't be wasting your time debating with someone like Polkka, they would say Quake Champions is dead with not even Ten Hours play time on record. If people are playing it, that means there's a market for it, therefore it's marketable.Įxactly, right now it as 919 active players in game right now, I was in the "It'll die by this time next Year boat", last Year and it still going strong. There's more people playing it than a ton of other games out there. Funny how you automatically get triggered and have to assume things other people didn't even think about. Has nothing to do with quality, just wondering what world you live in to think AFPS still have a place in the market. It doesn't imply anything lmao, It's an objective statement, have you seen how many active players the game has? The game is a failure and that's a fact. They're making money with Quake Champions. It wouldn't break even, that's why there won't be a Quake 5. No one will buy a singleplayer Quake game. Quake isn't marketable as a singleplayer game. If people are playing it, that means there's a market for it, therefore it's marketable. But instead you and your little neckbeard buddies sit there and say "microtransactions are bad", "DLC is bad", "why can't they make games like they used to". Maybe if you knew anything about business you would know that. Being marketable has nothing to do with the quality of the game, it all has to do with who will buy the game. You're saying either Quake Champions is bad (which is subjective) or, you're saying it doesn't have a target audience (which it clearly does). No, but your original statement implies one of two things. The one thing that all the Quake games have in common is a strong multiplayer component, therefore, Quake is only marketable as a multiplayer game. Q4 was their attempt to take on the Halo series. The third quake was really more of a Tech-Demo with focus on Multiplayer. The second one had more of a focus on gameplay and story mechanincs. if there was a single-player Quake 5 who would they market that game to? The first Quake was a hodgepodge of ideas, with a focus on the 3D tech they had just made. It's the fans of the classic quake games, Quake 3 and hero oriented shooters. Even Quake Champions has a marketable audience. The people who like to play games with over the top themes. What about Rage? Well it seems that they decided to go the route of Marketing it to the same people who would play games like Borderlands, or Saint's Row. They sell Doom to the classic Doom fans, and edgelords who just want to play an over the top, violent game. who are they going to sell a Quake 5 to? they sell Wolfenstein to people on the left because it gives them a Nazi-killing power fantasy. The answer, of course, is because it's not marketable. Originally posted by Legit Mizard:After some pondering about it, I have come to the conclusion on why there'll never be a Quake 5. TL DR: The Quake series is only marketable as a multiplayer game. After some pondering about it, I have come to the conclusion on why there'll never be a Quake 5.
